Holiday Blog Post

Hello everyone

So right back before the first bank holiday in May we packed our suitcases and flew off to a new destination for us - Turkey.  Well Oludeniz to be precise.  We had such a wonderful time in this new place discovering the beach and the markets and shops around us.  Here's a few highlights....

The sun going down over Oludeniz beach and a Turkish Tea/Coffee stop on Fetiyhe market

The ruins of the deserted village at Kaya

Oludeniz Beach

The Blue Lagoon / Seahorse Beach

Big chillis on the market

Fetiyhe harbour and the parasailing on Oludeniz beach

In between the walking and visiting places I got time to relax in the sunshine and do some crocheting.

I managed a few more hexies on my watergarden inspired shawl created from Scheepjes Whirl (Melting Macaron). I've nearly finished one of the yarn cakes so I've got another one to start on which I ordered from Black Sheep Wools while I was away so it'd arrive by the time I got back off holiday.  The pattern I'm following can be found on the Hobbycraft blog.  The blanket pattern CAL has now finished but you'll be able to access it for a while longer.  I'm also making the blanket but didn't take that away with me, but progression is good with it.

Here's my Scheepjes Whirl hexies.  Such a beautiful colour blend

Watch this space for further progress on this project.

I also managed to finish the remaining bit of a top I'm making for my mum in Caron Simply Soft yarn.  I made the front (the front and back are the same) back on my holiday in September last year and thought it was about time I finished it.  Just the straps to do now and get some pink ribbon to lace up the sides.  I just love this Caron yarn and will definitely be getting more of it.  I added a few more repeats on the bottom edge to make it longer.  Can't wait to see my mum wearing it.  Here it is:

I also took my second Tea on the Green blanket with me to finish off and now I'm happy to say that I've since finished personalising one of the C2C strips with the name of the recipient and just have a few more rows to complete on it before I attach it to the main blanket.  I also have finished off the other C2C panels.  Go me.....productive little me in the sunshine.

I also started (on the plane journey) a project for myself using the Hayfield yarn called Spirit and this will become an oversized cardigan made from a large 40 inch wide granny square.  I got the pattern from the internet and it's called the Movie Night Cocoon Cardi.  (Free Pattern)  Hoping to get this finished soon, but need to get William's Tea on the Green sorted first.

It's good to be home and back into a routine (Yes, I'm weird like that...cos I do love getting back off holiday so much and seeing family and friends for a catch up).

While away I ordered a Whirl and something else from Black Sheep and here is what I ordered....  Ooh yes. I'm so excited by these little balls of yarn and my plan is to make the Warp and Weft blanket (FREE PATTERN) from the internet, but instead of black I'm going to use grey yarn.

Since being back I've also been on a yarny adventure road trip to the sale at Black Sheep Wools and here's the treats purchased.

I just couldn't resist the bargains that were on offer in the sale and with discount as well.  I'm going to really enjoy getting stuck into Janie Crowe's Indian Roses blanket once I've cleared some of my WIPs up.

Well, that's all for now folks, but I will be back tomorrow or Tuesday to share some good news with you.

Take Care
