It's Digi Choosday Day - Week 27 - Xmas In July

Hello everybody

Welcome to another Tuesday and another great challenge over at Digi Choosday.

This week’s challenge is ‘Xmas in July’.

Now I know quite a lot of crafters out there are already in the swing of creating Christmas cards and projects as us crafters (organised ones anyway) like to stay ahead of the game as it’s our busiest time of the year after all and for those that do craft fairs then we have to make a start sooner rather than later.

There are oodles of Christmas inspired stamps and digis and papers and sentiments on the Polka Doodles website so there is no end of inspiration out there.

But this week I’ve gone back to one of my favourite CD collections called Paper Boutique to make a card.

I’ve used the Dashing Rudolph sheets and printed both of them out and have used some of the papers too – polka dots of course and the green paper featuring the words Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer which match the writing on the Rudolph digi.  I’ve decoupaged him and added glitter to his nose (of course).  There are some great sentiments on this CD collection and so I decided to use some NOEL tags and some buttons from another sheet and have finished them off with a touch of hessian twine and arranged them ‘off’ the top of the card.  The edges of all the images/papers have been inked up.  Full details of the collection can be got by clicking on the Thumb Linky below.

Here is my crafty make this week:

These are the ingredients I have used:

  • 8 x8 cream card
  • Pinflair Glue Gel
  • Dashing Rudolph, NOEL tags, Buttons and papers from the Paper Boutique collection
  • Dew Drop Versa Magic Chalk Ink in Jumbo Java for the edging
  • Hessian twine
  • Icicle Stickles Glitter Glue
  • Kraft card

I can’t wait to see your creations this week.  And remember, it’s not just for cards, you can create ANYTHING you want from home d├ęcor to cards, just remember to follow the rules listed in the blog.  And not only can you win a fabulous prize if you are in the top 3/random prize winner but you can also grab your discount code.  How fab is that?  The discount code only lasts for a short amount of time so you’d better head off over there right now to grab it.

Why not join in our Facebook groups as well.  Just search for Digi Choosday and Polka Doodles Crafting and ask to join the groups to join in all the fun.  It’s a great community group to join in with and show off your Polka Doodles makes.  There’s always one of the Design Team around to have a natter with and offer guidance and inspiration, so don’t be shy….head on over there right now!!!
If you would like a Guest Design Team Position with us as well, just have a look at our blog posts and you’ll find the details.  Good luck if you’re entering!!!

So as I mentioned in my last Digi Choosday blog post I said I had a little surprise for you and I hope that you will join in with what I have in store for you.  I have a little gift for one of you –a digi from the Festive Hollybobs Collection which is here:

But first of all you have to follow some rules:

  • You must follow my blog and leave a comment for me that you wish to enter my giveaway by leaving me a lovely message about what I’ve made this week.
  • You must open an account on the Polka Doodles website by clicking HERE (if you’ve not already got an account that is) and let me know that you’ve done this.
  • All entrants will be given a number and then I will use a random number generator to choose the winner.
  • Just pop back in two weeks time (21st July) to see if you’ve won!!!

That’s all there is to it.

You will need to contact me when I post the winner and then the black and white digi will be emailed to you once random generator thingy-me-jig has chosen a winner, but I'll let you know how you can do that when the time is up.  (And teamies...  no, you can't win, before you ask.  Ha ha ha)

Take care

Yarn Dyeing

Hello everybody

Well I haven't done any yarn dyeing since the end of last summer and forgot about a lot of the stuff that I'd dyed, but since I've been working hard on revamping my craft room to organise it so it's more art and painting friendly, I've come across them all and as I hadn't shared any photos with you of my  dyeing for a while I thought I'd share them.

First up was a blank canvas knitted base that I bought as long ago as June 2015 from Woolfest.  The canvas is a long knitted piece of fabric with two separate ends so that you can dye it however you choose and then unravel it to make two identical balls of yarn.  I used a length of cling film on top of the work top and used Kool Aid to dye the canvas and then wrapped it up in cling film and put it in the microwave.  Once it had cooled I then rinsed it and popped it outdoors on the line to dry and then once dry I unravelled it into two equal and identical balls which are now waiting in my stash r…

Long time no post....

Hello everyone

Well I know I've not blogged for months and months, but I've been really busy and have been making the most of other social media platforms to chat with happy crafters and the like.

But I'm back now and hopefully I should get to blogging maybe once a week or a couple of times a month.....who knows.

Let me tell you what I've been up to whilst I've been absent from blogland.

1.  I had a big birthday in the summer and got a wonderful birthday present of a Townie bike and so spent every spare moment during the spring and summer (cos I got my present a little earlier than expected) taking in parks and other beautiful places and getting some fresh air and exercise and loved every minute of it.  But now that the nights are now darker earlier and winter is setting in I'm not able to get out and so she's been put to bed for a few months until the clocks go forward and the light nights come back.  So....hurry up winter and do one!!!

Hi everyone

Hope you've been keeping well since my last post.
I've been attending art group still and learning new techniques as I go.
I've done a few paintings since I shared my owl one, which I'll be sharing later this month, but here is my recent completed one from start to finish. I used watercolours from Royal Langnickel and water soluble oil pastels which were really cheap from The Works, fur texture created with KohINoor pencils and Posca white pen. Hope you like it. Here's some close ups and the finished project all framed up.

Starting to watercolour the background and the background and watercoloured bunny beginning to add detail  Close up of the detail using the Kohinoor pencils  Hello there.....just look at the texture on the fur.

I achieved the background flowers by just dabbing a paint brush in multi colours and then dabbing them onto the paper after adding brush strokes of green for the stems and grass.  Boo......just look at my beautiful eyes.  a…
