It's Digi Choosday - Week 26 - Use Some Embossing

Hello everybody

Welcome to another Tuesday and another great challenge over at Digi Choosday.

This week’s challenge is ‘Use Some Embossing’.

There are a few ways of embossing, but I’ve decided to use one of my embossing folders called ‘Swiss Dots’ and my Grand Calibur to make the card matt and layering and make another Christmas card.  Well it’s never too early to get started and I’ve got a few Christmas things made already.  It’s good to get ahead of yourself even if it does feel a little bit strange creating Christmas projects when the sun is shining.

Not only does Nikky – Polka Doodles produces some absolutely fab downloads and SVG cutting files but she also produces the most amazing CDs and for the Christmas tree elements on the cards I’ve used a great collection I’ve not used for a long while called Magical Winter 1 & 2 CD Collection from the Silly Snowman Collection.  There are tonnes and tonnes of stuff on these two CDs from papers and sentiments to lots of character images which are in colour and black and white too.

You can get the CD here

I printed the sheet of trees out from one of the CD discs and then layered them on top of one another to create a little scene on my Swiss Dot embossing.  The Merry Christmas bunting is also from the collection, which I've cut in half to drape across the left hand corner of my card.

Here is my crafty make this week:

These are the ingredients I have used:

8 x8 white card
White card
Red card
Blue card
Green card
Black card
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder called Swiss Dots
Silver Encore Ultimate Metallic Silver Ink pad for the edgings
White Opal Liquid Pearls – for dots and spots on some of the trees
Pinflair Glue Gel
Magical Winter 1 & 2 CD Collection for the trees and the Merry Christmas bunting.

I can’t wait to see your creations this week.  And remember, it’s not just for cards, you can create ANYTHING you want from home décor to cards, just remember to follow the rules listed in the blog.  And not only can you win a fabulous prize if you are in the top 3/random prize winner but you can also grab your discount code.  How fab is that?  The discount code only lasts for a short amount of time so you’d better head off over there right now to grab it.

It's Digi Choosday Day - Week 25 - Tag It

Hello everybody

Welcome to another Tuesday and another great challenge over at Digi Choosday.

This week’s challenge is ‘Tag It’.

I love making tags because they can be elaborately or simply decorated and it gives you a chance to use lots of the little embellishments you may have lying around in your craft room.

I’ve decided to use the Dollie Goes East collection and have used three of the coloured digis which I’ve resized in a graphics package and printed out and then used some of the lovely papers available on the collection with the flowers which I’ve resized as well to go onto some Kraft Card tags and finished them off with glitter, gems and ribbon and lace.  I’ve made these three tags so that they can be used as cards so I printed off three different envelopes (also on the collection) and they will be just great for the tags and are just the right size too.

Here is my crafty make this week:

These are the ingredients I have used:

  • 3 x Ink Essentials Kraft Tags
  • 3 coloured digis from the Dollie East Collection (see thumb linky below for details)
  • Papers from the Dollie East collection (see thumb linky below for details)
  • Flowers and sentiments from the Dollie East Collection (see thumb linky below for details)
  • Graphic paper (for printing  the image/papers) (see thumb linky below for details)
  • Pinflair Glue Gel
  • Dew Drop Brilliance Ink in Pearlescent Thyme for the edges of the lace and images etc.
  • Santoro adhesive pearls in different colours and sizes
  • Assorted ribbons and lace from my stash
  • Icicle Stickles Glitter Glue
Not only can you get the coloured digis on the collection but they are available in black and white too and if you didn't want the whole collection (Why ever not???) then you can by single digis just HERE as well ready for you to colour.

It's Digi Choosday Day - Week 24 - Use Some Buttons

Hello everybody

Welcome to another Tuesday and another great challenge over at Digi Choosday.

This week’s challenge is ‘Use Some Buttons’

This is a great challenge for me because I have oodles and oodles of buttons in storage jars to take my pick from.

I’ve decided to use the latest Work & Play 11 Collection, using a black and white digi I’ve coloured with Graph It pens, papers and sentiments and the wonderful gymnastic beam.  You see, my sister is an absolutely wonderful gymnast and runs her own gymnastic business and so with her in mind I’ve decorated the card with some of the alphabets on the Eden collection together with the flowers which I’ve resized in my graphics package by Do Crafts.  I’ve put the buttons in the centres of the flowers and with a smattering of glitter on the ribbon…. Voila!!!

Here is my crafty make this week:

These are the ingredients I have used:

  • 8x8 Square Card
  • Black and white Gymnast digi from Work & Play 11 Collection (see thumb linky below for details)
  • Papers from the ‘girl’ collection on the Work & Play 11 Collection (see thumb linky below for details)
  • Letters and flowers from the alphabet section of the Eden collection (see thumb linky below for details)
  • Gymnastic Beam from the Work & Play 11 Collection (see thumb linky below for details) Ultimate
  • Graphic paper (for printing  the image/papers) (see thumb linky below for details)
  • Pink & Blue buttons
  • 8 x 8 card
  • Pinflair Glue Gel
  • Glossy Accents
  • Glamour Dust loose glitter
  • Distress Ink – Tattered Rose – for the edges of the card
  • Stickles Glitter Glue – Waterfall

I’ve coloured the image with my Graph It pens as follows:
  • Skin – 4115, 4145, 4155, 4170, 6150
  • Lips – 6150
  • Enhanced skin with SN Pencil 09
  • Hair – 3140, 3150, 3160, 3190
  • Eyes – 3290
  • Leotard, Flower & Ribbon – 7140, 7150, 7160, 7125, 6150
  • Shake It White Graph It pen for the leotard dots

I can’t wait to see your creations this week.  And remember, it’s not just for cards, you can create ANYTHING you want from home décor to cards, just remember to follow the rules listed in the blog.  And not only can you win a fabulous prize if you are in the top 3/random prize winner but you can also grab your discount code.  How fab is that?  Why not join in our Facebook groups as well.  Just search for Digi Choosday and Polka Doodles Crafting and ask to join the groups to join in all the fun.  It’s a great community group to join in with and show off your Polka Doodles makes.  There’s always one of the Design Team around to have a natter with and offer guidance and inspiration, so don’t be shy….head on over there right now!!!

It's Digi Choosday - Week 23 - Father's Day/Male Card

Hello everybody

Welcome to another Tuesday and another great challenge over at Digi Choosday.

We are fast approaching Father’s Day (21st June 2015) and so this week’s challenge is ‘Father’s Day/Male card’.

Making this card has proved a dilemma in that there are so many great images to choose from in the Polka Doodles collections.  As I’m making this card for my dad (shhh… don’t tell him….ha ha ha) and he is a keen fisherman I’ve chosen one of the older Work & Play Collections, number 7, and the coloured fishing digi from that same collection and mixed it up with some of the ‘boy’ papers from the very very new Work & Play 11 Collection.  That’s the beauty of these Work & Play Collections…they mix and match absolutely wonderfully.

I’ve chosen a mixture of the papers from the collection and layered them on top of one another using my Do Crafts Designer and then highlighted the image with faux stitching using a black pen and the Graph It Shake It white pen and then touches of Glossy Accents on the water.  I’ve finished the card off by using a Versa Mark ink pad on the edges of the card and a bit of chiffon ribbon and a button from my stash and cut the Scrabble Tiles from the Work & Play Love Collection to spell out ‘Happy Father’s Day’ which again have been inked up on the edges with Versa Mark ink.

A very simple but effective card.

It just goes to show that if you’re not confident with your pens or pencils, then the images on the collections that come in colour are just as fabulous to use.  And as Nicky has mentioned on Create & Craft previously,  the images also lend themselves to those that are colouring up the black and white images as a guidance and inspiration for colour choices and blends and shades/tones to use.  It’s a win win situation with these fabulous collections.

Here is my crafty make this week:

These are the ingredients I have used:

  • 8x8 Square Card
  • Fishing coloured digi from the Work & Play 7 Collection (see thumb linky below for details)
  • Papers from the ‘boy’ collection on the Work & Play 11 Collection (see thumb linky below for details)
  • Scrabble Tiles from the Work & Play Love Collection (see thumb linky below for details)
  • Ultimate Graphic paper (for printing  the image/papers) (see thumb linky below for details)
  • Turquoise ribbon
  • Blue/silver shimmery button
  • Versa Magic Jumbo Java Ink
  • Pinflair Glue Gel
  • Glossy Accents
  • Black Marker
  • Shake It White Graph It pen

It's Digi Choosday Day - Week 22 - Use Some Kraft Card

Hello everybody

Welcome to another Tuesday and another great challenge over at Digi Choosday.

This week the challenge is ‘Use Some Kraft Card’

The Rose Budd collection is full of pretty digis and papers and embellishments.  I’ve used a sheet from the collection called ‘Flower Sheet’ which has nine pretty little flower squares on it and I’ve embossed them with ultra thick embossing powder and matted and layered onto Kraft Card and a sheet of the paper from the collection.  Finished it off with the wonderful envelope sentiments from the collection which I’ve dyed using some Tim Holtz Distress Stain.  I found some great green satin ribbon and used some of the gems from last week’s challenge to finish off the card.
Click the linkies below for the collection.

I was trying to achieve a vintage feel to the card and hope I’ve achieved this.

Here is my crafty make

These are the ingredients I have used:

  • 8x8 Square Card
  • Kraft Card
  • Rose Budd collection for the sentiments, papers and flowers
  • Ultimate Graphic paper (for printing  the paper)
  • Tim Holtz Distress Stain Tea Dye
  • Perfect Medium
  • Cosmic Shimmer Ultra Thick Embossed Crystals
  • Crystal Sticker Cluster Gems in purple and pink
  • Pale Green Ribbon

I can’t wait to see your creations this week.  And remember, it’s not just for cards, you can create ANYTHING you want from home décor to cards, just remember to follow the rules listed in the blog.

And also did you know that if you pop on over to the Digi Choosday blog each week there is a wonderful discount code that can be applied for any of your digi purchases from the Polka Doodles shop?  The discount code only applies for a certain length of time each week, so make sure you don't miss it by heading on over there in the next 24 hours or pop back each Tuesday to see what it is.

Also if you head on over to our Facebook groups for Polka Doodles and Digi Choosday you never know what offers we might have on over there and challenges and lots of other fun stuff.  If you're not a member of any of those groups then just send a join request and one of the DT will sort your request out.

Take care
