My Donation To Charity

Hello again

My blog post today is all about my donation to a local charity.

For some time now I have been wondering what I can do with all my surplus stock that I have either not sold or not put on my website for whatever reason.
As sales on the website have not been great as of late and because I have lots of new cards in the pipeline I thought what better way than to raise some much needed funds for a local charity by donating a massive amount of cards to them for them to sell.

I have chosen Derian House which is a children’s hospice in Chorley near Chorley Hospital.  You can read all about the hospice HERE

The hospice which opened in the early 1990’s covers Lancashire and the South Lakes and supports families who have a child or young adult suffering from a life shortening condition and also offers bereavement support to families.

I hope that they are able to sell these cards (over 70 in total covering a wide range of occasions) and put the contribution towards their fundraising.

The pictures show the bundle of cards I delivered and some close ups of some of the cards.

I’ll be back on Saturday with another blog post about the Christmas Fun Challenge Blog.

Till then take care

Birthday Card Make

Hello everybody
Just a little post from me today to show you a birthday card I made recently.
The stamped image is from a set of stamps by Do Lally Pip called ‘Emily & Steampunk Sarah’.  I stamped the image with Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black and coloured the image with Graph It Pens (Ghost, Powder, Almond, Light Caramel, Satin, Princess Rose, Sienna, Burgundy and the outline with Misty Morning).
The backing paper is from Kaiser Crafts and is from the ‘True Romance’ collection called ‘First Signs’.
I have also used black and tan card for the matting and layering and also decoupaged some of the letter tiles on the Kaiser Craft backing paper.  I finished off the card with some gold Liquid Pearls and also some Cosmic Twinkles glitter.
Hope you have enjoyed looking at my card.
See you soon.

Christmas Gifts for Friends and Family

Hello everybody

Popping in again to start off the creative week and to wish you all the best for the week ahead.

I've already written a post showing the handcrafted Christmas cards I made so this post has been written to show you some of the handcrafted gifts I made for family and close friends for 2013.  Warning:  The post is very picture heavy.  I made a lot of gifts.

Present No. 1
A matching set of fingerless mittens, cowl and headband which I have crocheted with two lots of yarn on a 9mm hook using a pattern I found on Ravelry as a source of inspiration, however the hand part of the fingerless gloves have been knitted on a 4mm set of knitting needles with a crocheted cuff.

Present No. 2
This crocheted scarf has been made using 5 different colours of yarn (Blue Faced Leicester) hand dyed by a company called The Natural Dye Studio and using their pattern called Lula Scarf.  Made from 70 individual flower shapes which have been crocheted using the ‘crochet together as you go’ method.

Present No. 3
This box frame bought from Hobbycraft contains four images from the La Pashe CDs called Wrinklies and The Best Of double CD collection which have been decoupaged.  The words have been cut out using a Cricut machine.  The words are a favourite saying of the recipient.

Present No. 4

A birth sampler made using a kit in shades of pink and green and mounted in a box frame again bought from Hobbycraft.

Present No. 5
A crocheted shawl in shades of green and pink/purple made from a pattern called The Diana Shawl found in a crochet magazine.  This has a beautiful ruffled edge.  Made from sock yarn 4ply from Laughing Yaffle yarn using a 4mm hook

 Present No. 6
This box frame, again bought from Hobbycraft, measures 12 x 12 inches and  features digital images from the Octopode Factory on the Rocky Horror theme.  I have coloured them using Promarkers and Graph It pens and then have decoupaged them.  The red background paper is from the Tim Holtz collection which I have distressed the edges using a distress tool before mounting onto black card.  The red background paper has been stamped using the Visible Image stamped called Ripped Fishnet using black ink from Memento called Tuxedo Black.  The words Damn It Janet have been cut from white card using a Cricut machine and stamped with the Ripped Fishnet stamp too.  The lips have been glazed using Anita’s Clear Gloss and sprinkled with loose glitter from KARS.

Present No. 7

Another crocheted shawl again in 4ply sock yarn using the South Bay Shawlette pattern found on the internet.  Made using a 4mm hook and then blocked using blocking wires.

Hope you have enjoyed looking at them.  Please leave a comment as I love to read them.

Christmas Cards For Friends & Family

Hello everybody,

So as I mentioned at the end of December 2013 I created quite a few Christmas cards for family and close friends and thought I would let you see some of them.  I have listed some of the ingredients used as well.

First up is the card I created for my mum and dad and my father in law and his partner.

I used an image from the Polka Doodles CD called Magical Winter Part 1 and 2 and I printed it several times and decoupaged the image in several layers on an 8x8" card base and then added glitter from Cosmic Shimmer and Stickles.

For my two good friends I made cards as follows:

The beach hut card was made using a stamped from 'Little Clare Designs' called 'Christmas Beach Huts' stamped with Memento Ink Pad in Tuxedo Black.  I have coloured the image using Promarkers (Sandstone, Caramel, Shale, Canary, Lime Green, Indigo Blue, Sky Blue, Soft Green, Cool Aqua, Bluebell, Duck Egg, Cocktail Pink, Lipstick Red, Crimson, Cool Grey 5, Bright Orange, Pear Green, Amethyst, Aubergine, Purple, Plum) .  I used a Sakura Gelly Roll pen in white for the snow in the background and finished off with Ice Stickles glitter glue.  The background paper is from Polka Doodles CD again Magical Winter.

The Rudolph card has been made using a ‘Woodware’ stamp (Clear Magic) called ‘Christmoose’.  I stamped the image with Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black and coloured the image with Promarkers (Forest Green, Tan, Pear Green, Caramel, Lipstick Red, Crimson, Terracotta) and Graph Its (Sienna, Espresso, Ruby, Neutral Grey, Warm Grey 4) and the sentiments from the stamps have been used.  Finished off with matting onto paper again from Polka Doodles CD Magical Winter and the glitter used is Cosmic Shimmer Cosmic Twinkles and Stickles in Eucalyptus and Xmas Red.

This card has been made using an image printed from ‘The Best of La Pashe’ CD One (2012) and has been decoupaged and matted and layered onto paper from that CD and also from Polka Doodles Magical Winter CD.

For my next two cards I used the inspiration from my winning Christmas card design in my local craft shop, but this time I did them in pink and purple but with the same silver chiffon style ribbon tied in a bow on the spine of the card.  Coloured using Promarkers and Graph It pens.  And decoupaged the image in several layers onto background paper featuring a snowy hillside.

Hope you have enjoyed looking at my handcrafted Christmas cards and that you will pop by later next week when I reveal pictures of the gifts I made for family and close friends.

Thank you so much for taking time to look at my blog.

Please leave a comment.

Take care
